A Note from the Founder – Ameya Aneja
Last December, I was completely shattered when I was told that my grandmother had been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Seeing her struggle with the treatment was one of the hardest things for me. I couldn’t help but wonder if early detection could have helped her avoid this long drawn out exhaustive treatment. With so many medicines to take, she would lose track and forget to take them on time or sometimes take an extra dose. She would often not remember to note vital information and symptoms which she had to share with her doctor. Slowly, I found her retreating into a shell feeling isolated, depressed and losing her joie de vivre. That was the moment that led me to think about the pressing need for a personalized patient-centric app like BEAM in the market, which facilitates a paradigm shift in managing breast cancer patients, amalgamating physical, emotional and social support.
